To move your database to your own SQL server, please follow the steps below.

  1. Ensure that your new SQL server has File Stream feature enabled and full text search feature installed. See this link for more details: http://www.docsvault.com/online-help/manual/index.html?using_your_own_mssql_server.html

  2. Backup your current data using the manual backup feature under the Repository > Backup node in the Docsvault Server Manager. This will backup the main SQL db files as well as all the documents in Docsvault (stored in the "DVSB Data\DVFStream" folder using the file stream feature)

  3. Create a new empty database on your new SQL server. Now restore the backup you took to this new database. Note that all documents will also be restored in a fileStream folder named "DVFStream" along with the new db files.

  4. In the Docsvault Server Manager go to Repository > Settings node and connect to the new database using the change button there under the Database Section

Note: Docsvault will not be able to take backups of your database anymore once you host it on your own SQL Server so please use an alternate method to take regular backups of your Docsvault database on your new SQL Server.
