Backup and Restore

Computer hardware problems, power failures or surges, user mistakes, etc. can cause loss of your data. Docsvault offers you options to take regular backups of your repository to a 'Local/Network location' or directly to 'CD/DVD media'. For more information, see Backup section

Similarly you can also restore back your data from 'Local / Network location' or 'CD/DVD media'. For more information, see Restore section.

Optimization

You can use this option to optimize the document repository. During this operation, the database is cleaned and compacted and the text indexes are optimized. It should not be necessary to optimize the repository more than once or twice a month. However depending upon the usage of the software, you can optimize the repository as often as necessary.

Change Repository Location

This option can be used in case you run out of hard drive space, change a hard drive or just change the location of your existing repository (Data Folder).

Warning:

Restoring, Optimizing and Changing the repository location will disrupt all clients currently connected to the server. Please make sure all clients are logged out before starting these operations.

Export Repository

You can directly export the entire documents repository in a hierarchical folder structure to any local or network location or to a 'CD/DVD' media. Unlike data backup, the Export Repository feature allows you  to make a direct one-to-one copy of the document database with original file and  folder names while still retaining the hierarchical folder structure.

Note

Export does not include any empty cabinets and folders.
It must be noted that the cabinets are exported as folders.
