Note:
| • | Profiles can be created and edited from both 'Server' and 'Client' computer.

For example:
The administrator decides to create a Purchase Invoice Profile for the Accounting department to make it easier to find documents. The profile includes the additional fields for Client, Project, Due Date and Amount. Profile allows users to specify the information while importing the documents (Purchase Invoice) into Docsvault. To ensure that information on the Client and Contact Person is entered by the person importing the document, the administrator clicks the Required field next to these field names in the Profile form.

Creating a new profile
To create a new profile you need to provide a profile name and then associate properties with it.
| • | From the 'Properties' tab, click on Add button to bring up the 'Create Profile' dialog box. |

| • | Assign a new 'Profile Name' and a short 'Description' about it |
| • | Select each property from 'Available Properties' list and click on Add button. The selected property will get added to the 'Assigned Properties'. For multiple selection, keep the Ctrl key pressed while selecting. |
| • | Assign a default value to the property in the 'Default Value' column. This will set a default value to the property when the profile is set to a document. |
Note:
| • | If you want to make it mandatory to assign a value to the property, check mark the respective check box from 'Field Required' column. Now this property's value cannot be kept empty when this profile is being assigned to a document.

| • | Click Save button to save the profile. |
Note:
| • | To include all the properties in the profile, click "Add All" button below "Available Properties" list box. |

Editing the profile
| • | From the 'Profiles' tab, click on Edit button to bring up the 'Edit Profile' dialog box. |
| • | In the edit dialog box, make the necessary changes. |
| • | You can change the order of the displayed fields by clicking on the up and down arrows that appear in the far-right column of this screen. |
| • | Click on Save button to save the changes. |
Important:
| • | To remove the property from the profile, click "Remove" button. This action is not reversible and you will permanently lose the data values for deleted fields.

Deleting the profile
| • | Select the profile from the list and click on Delete button. |
| • | This will display the confirmation message. |
| • | Click Yes button to delete the property. |
Warning:
| • | You cannot delete the default 'General' profile.
